2008 Arizona Book Awards Entry Deadline Has Passed

The Arizona Book Publishing Association accepted entries for the 2008 Arizona Book Awards until the end of February. Submissions were due by February 29th, 2008.

Arizona Book Awards Earn Publicity for Your Books

Authors and publishers whose books win awards see a positive correlation between the award and the overall success of the book. The 2008 Arizona Book Awards, whose award is known as a Glyph Award, help to promote and support quality work created in or about Arizona and to recognize excellence in craft and creation in the Arizona book industry. Press releases of the finalists and winners will be sent to the major news media within Arizona as well as national media and will also appear on the Arizona Book Publishing Association webpage.

The winning selections may be displayed at the Publishers Marketing Association booth May 29th through June 1st at Book Expo America 2008 in Los Angeles, California. Book Expo America hosts more than 2,000 exhibitors from the publishing industry and sees more than 5,000 attendees, agents, buyers, and other professionals each year.

Last year’s winners were featured in the Arizona State University Alumni newsletter (going out to more than 40,000 individuals).

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Arizona Book Awards, the work must be written by an Arizona author, published by an Arizona publisher, or set in Arizona. Current Arizona residents are eligible, as are individuals engaged in ongoing literary work in the state and authors whose literary work reflects a strong sense of Arizona. The author or publisher making the submission is no longer required to be an ABPA member.

Entries in the Arizona Book Awards must have a 2007 publication date (between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007).

Deadlines and Fees

Complete the 2008 Arizona Book Award application. Mail the application with the entry fee ($60 for ABPA members and $75 for nonmembers), 2 copies of each book, and a CD with your cover files to the ABPA address provided on the form.
